We learn that we need to be or behave a certain way to stay safe. This moves us away from our truest essence. We forget who we truly are, we forget that we are enough, that there's nothing we need to change.

At some point - often the lowest - you may find this little voice saying: "this can't be the only way". And then the journey of remembering begins.
